2050 Vision of the Home
Challenge
Support a global design team in a mature product category to develop a long-range vision of the home. The main challenge was how to push beyond well-worn ideas on the topic and create an inspiring and credible vision of the future home.
Approach
We began with a framing workshop to align the global team on the level and character of the project’s ambition – the well-worn future of the home cliches to avoid. We then analysed long-term trends in Urbanisation, Sustainability and Health & Wellbeing, which we refined and validated through interviews with 12 international architects, planners and designers. Following discussion and initial brainstorming, Plan crafted a vision narrative that articulated a comprehensive point of view on the future of the home. We then managed a sprint in which the global design team generated, filtered and merged vision concepts. We then worked closely with the design leads to develop the concepts. Finally, we led the storyboarding and scripting of the vision videos to communicate the vision concepts and the thinking that inspired them.
